2012 saw a succesful year for Forest of Arden Riders Group, especially with the juniors included in the first time in the Groups history. A massive well done to all our members who represented our riders group at Area and National level, it was great to see new faces representing the group. All training has been well attended which has been wonderful to see members progressing and hopefully will represent the Group at area and National level this coming year.
Dressage Seniors Saw a new member representing the group for the Prelim Dressage, Kate Saunders was placed 5th individually in a very hotly contested class. Melanie Hough and Billy represented the Group at Medium and Elementry Level turning in good results to finish 9th in the Elementry and 3rd in the Medium.
We hope to see further Seniors joining us for the teams this year, Winter qualifier at Moreton Morrel and the Summer qualify.
Chloe Allen and King Creolee represented the Forest of Arden at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
The Junior teams have had a wonderful start representing the Group, with winning the qualifier at Moreton Morrell, with Chloe Allen and Lizzie Whitmarsh winning their sections, and Alex Haynes finishing 4th and Megan Bates 8th.
This qualified the team for the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS at Lincoln. Here the Juniors put another fantastic display fininshing 8th overall. This was a massive acheievment for the Juniors, who all rode brillantly and sounds like they had a very good week end. We look forward to more results like this for next year.
The Junior also competed in the Riding Test a new experience for most of the members and all rode really well in difficult weather conditions. Chloe was 3rd and only just missed out on qualification for the Nationals, Alex, Lizzie and Megan all rode well gaining valuable experience for next year.
The weather certainly made competing a real challenge this year. Although kicked off with a team going to Offchurch Bury for the Two day event in May, this included two Juniors representing the group. All four members finished the two days, Sarah Bell-Scott and White star Magic finished 11th, Megan Bates finished 14th whilst the last two members of Izzy Harper and Anna Thomas experienced technical difficulties. The Second team also finished the two days happy and sound just missing out on placings this was Monica Killminster, Chloe Allen and Megan Bates. A great start to the season.
The Area Qualifier was held at Solihull Riding Club, no Senior team this year which was disapointing but the group was still represented by two individuals Sarah Bell-Scott who had double clear finishing in 9th and Anna Thomas whoes horse Seymour thought the going was too wet for him.
Juniors The Juniors where represented by a Novice Team of Chloe Allen, Izzy Harper, Morgan Shelley and Megan Bates, all rode brillantly with good dressage score meaning they won the section convincingly by 80 marks qualifiying them for the National Championships at Aston le Walls. Izzy also won her section, with Chloe 3rd and Morgan finishing 5th. Monica Kilminster also represented the group as individual finishing just outside the placing.
Lauren Shelley also rode as an individual in the Junior Intermediate class finishing on excellant score of 28.3, winning her section and also qualifying for the National Championships at Aston le Walls.
So on to the National Championships at Aston le Walls an early start ensued but at least it was dry, everybody posted good dressage scores putting the team in a good position, and several clears in the show jumping over a very technical track. The cross country caused a lot of problems all day with an off set double early in the course unfortunately catching out both Chloe and Megan out. However Izzy and Morgan went clear which was great and due to the teams good dressage score left them a very creditable 6th place and Izzy coming 7th individually in her section.
Lauren also got caught out on the cross country at an off set double, but a good dressage score and a clear in the show jumping left her 8th. Everyone rode brillantly and there was a tremendous team spirit which was great to be part of, a massive well done to you all and looking forward to more results for next year.
Seniors A team of three contested the winter qualifier at Solihull riding club, with Sarah bell-Scott jumpind Double clear, Melanie Hough and team dututee Jess stevens rolling a pole in the second role fininshing 7th out of 21 teams.
The summer qualify saw a change of venue and a team of Mel Hough, Jo Crowhurst, Anna Thomas and Sarah Bell-Scott completed two very technical tracks with VERY tight time allowance to finish 5th overall. The same team also contested the equitation jumping having read the rules that morning to decipher what it was all about, the marking was very close and the team finished 4th.
The juniors where well represented in both the Novice and the Open qualifier for the Winter qualifier. The Novice Show jumping team of Chloe Allen, Megan Bates and Gabrielle McDowell finished 5th.
The open team of Lauren Shelley, Fay White and Halyleigh Chambers all rode really well to finish 2nd.
Gabrielle, Faye and Hayleigh also competed in the top score to qaulify for Royal Windsor Horse Show. Faye won this and went on to represent the Forest of Arden at Royal Windsor, clocking up a brillant time and then unfortunately had the joker down leaving her in 14th place.
