2011 saw a succesful year for Forest of Arden Riders Group with representation at the festival of the Horse in May and at the National Championships in September. Locally 2011 saw good results for all team results in all disciplines with some new faces representing the group.
Showing Festival of the Horse. Melanie Hough Billy, 1st Ridden Coloured 1st Working Cob, 2nd in the Ridden Cob.
Dressage Unfortunatley no teams this year but individual placings for Sarah Bell-Scott 7th in the Novice Qualifier. Mel Hough rode in the Open Qualifier and was placed 4th in her Novice BD test but won her Elementary BD test for points.
Horse trials A team of three, Kerry Bucknall, Michelle Spiers and Sarah Bell-Scott were placed 5th at the first point’s competition of the year at Solihull Riding Club. Kerry won her section. Two Day Event at OffChurch Bury at the end of May, saw the team joined by new member Hayley Benton. The team went on to be placed 2nd overall and won a trophy for the best score for a team of 4. Michelle and Sarah were placed 9th Individual and Hayley was 10th
Novice Horse Trials Qualifier held at Solihull Riding Club the team won the Novice Section and Qualified for the National Championships at Aston-Le-Walls, with individual placings for Michelle 3rd, Sarah 4th and Kerry 8th. The Nationals held at Aston Le walls saw sunshine and two fantastic days for the riders and the endless support team in the background, The team’s great performance meant that by the end of the 2 days they were placed 10th out of 42 teams. Sarah Bell-Scott finished 7th in her section and Michelle Spiers 10th in her section individually a fantastic result.
Show jumping Novice Indoor Show Jumping Qualifier with Jo Nadin, Sarah Bell-Scott, Melanie Hough and Anna Thomas. There were some good clears but not enough for a place.
At the summer qualifier the team was reduced to 3, with Mel, Sarah and Jo. The Show Jumping Team missed out on a placing, however the equitation team of the same members were placed 4th overall with an individual placing for Mel.
The final show jumping competition was held at Moreton Morrell in the October and a team of 3 became 2 individuals, Sarah and Mel. Mel jumped a lovely double clear and went on to be placed 6th.
